Xmas Stockings With A Personal Touch
In my family, we have always been big believers in the spiritual value of craft. All year long, we nit, carve, sand, sculpt, and do any other work of art or craft that you could imagine. But at no time of year is our craftiness more apparent than at Christmas. We make Personalized Christmas Gifts, homemade xmas cards, and anything else that you can think of. We even make our own Christmas ornaments. But the prize of the day goes to the family’s Personalized Christmas Stockings.
There is a ritual that we follow every year leading up to Christmas. Everyone puts their name in a hat, and then everyone pulls out a name. Whoever you get the name of, you have to make them a Personalized Christmas Stocking. This year, I got the name of my dad. I have always kind of wanted to make him a Personalized Christmas Stocking, because I have never got to in the past, and I have only made them for my mom and my sister before. I feel like making him his own Personalized Christmas Stocking will be great fun.
I feel bad for the families that order Personalized Christmas Stockings instead of making their own. They do not know what they are missing! It is not just the fun of knitting the Personalized Christmas Stocking that I like, but also the thrill of getting to design it all by myself. It is really quite a joy to be able to go through every step of the process, from beginning to end. And, best of all, I get to do something nice for someone that I really care about. I tell you, life does not get that much better than this, if you ask me.
Finally, we each finish our Personalized Christmas Stocking, and hang it by the mantle. Each person sneaks down at a different time during the week leading up to Christmas eve to hang up their own Personalized Christmas Stocking for whoever they made it for. This is one of the best parts of the whole thing. It is so much fun to sneak around, and try not to get caught! And it is a lot of fun when everyone sees their own Personalized Christmas Stocking, and tries to guess who it was that made it. All in all, the whole Personalized Christmas Stocking tradition has gone a long way to make this my very favorite time of year!
