Plastic Storage Bins - A Good Storage Option

When it comes to storage options, there are far too many these days. I moved into an older house recently and needed storage that would protect my winter clothing from moths and other threats. I checked out the selection of storage options at the local Wal-Mart and found a plethora of boxes, bins, and the like. Many were very expensive and would only hold a few items. This did not seem cost effective.

I looked around for plastic storage bins that would protect my belongings from moths and possible water damage. I have been through the frustrating experience of having your home flooded and everything that was not protected by plastic was destroyed. I also wanted a few smaller plastic storage bins for important papers and photographs.

After a longer than expected search, I found that Rubbermaid had the best deals. They make containers in many sizes and were the best deals after comparing how much they could hold. My entire winter wardrobe only required two large bins and I bought two smaller ones for my home office.

If you are looking to store your belongings in containers that will protect them, it is important to purchase plastic storage bins with lids that can be closed completely. This will keep out any bugs and water and are very durable. The Rubbermaid plastic storage bins seem indestructible and I think they would hold up well in a move. This way you would not need to pack your items into boxes only to repack them into the storage containers later.

One of the best reasons to purchase plastic storage bins is the fact that you can be confident that your belongings are protected even if they are stored in not-so-protected places. Water backs up into my basement from time to time and it is not the cleanest or friendliest area in my home.

I live in the Midwest where we are plagued by brown recluse spiders. These pests can be very dangerous and they love to get into boxes and anything cluttered. Using plastic storage bins I know that I can open them up and won’t find any nasty little surprises that I could if I used boxes to store my things. I am also assured that even if the water backs up, my things will be fine.

When it comes to storage, there is no reason not to go for the plastic options even if they are a bit more expensive or less attractive than other containers. You will save money in the long run because there is little chance that your belongings will be damaged if kept in tightly closed plastic containers.
