How do you properly do crunches on a Balance Ball?

I have a Gaiam Balance Ball and I did some crunches last night but I kept sliding off to where I was really low to the floor. Is there a correct way to be at the top center of the ball and do crunches?

There are many variations, but the simplest is to lay on the ball,..legs out, knees bent. Place the ball on your lower back. Crunch up,..about 8 inches..make sure you contract your abs.
