My girlfriend was told to get Compression stockings by her doctor with no prescription?

I read that they should be prescribed but she said to find them somewhere will they still be effective and where can we find them without ordering online? We live in RI, US. She is pregnant and has bad veins in legs.

Prescription compression stockings offer much more compression than ones available without a prescription. If the doctor told your girlfriend to get some without a prescription its because she doesn’t need them to be that strong.

Sometimes pharmacies will carry them. You can call pharmacies in RI to check. Medical supply stores definitely will carry them. Usually if you call a pharmacy they will know where the nearest medical supply store is. Also, here is a link that might help.
