Heat Gear

It was late in October and the sun was shining but it turned out to be colder than I thought. I decided to take one last ride before winter set into Ohio. I was freezing as I parked and jumped off my motorcycle and walked into Adventure H-D. As I poured a hot cup of coffee, someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned to see Lori shaking her head.
“Haven’t you ever heard of heated gloves and heated riding gear,” Lori stated with a look of pity in her eye.
“No, I didn’t know anything like that was available. How exactly can they heat gloves?”
“Well, it’s complicated but let me try to explain. The heated gloves use Microwire™ heating technoloy. They take tiny micro-sized stainless steel fibers that are intertwined and encased in a Teflon® coating. There is a heating matrix within the glove that the Microwire™ is woven into. Are you following me so far?”
“Yes, it does sound complicated,” I replied.
“This heating system is the most efficient and long lasting technology that has been developed. The way they designed these gloves the heating system is not noticable to you and they are softer and more flexible,” Lori explained.
“So do you plug these in or something?”
“Yes you have to plug them in. The plug and wire casings are designed to be be pliable even in sub-freezing temperatures. The plug won’t scratch the tank. You get heat coverage over the entire length of each finger, the thumb and the back of the your hand.”
“Those heated gloves sound like, just what I need,” I said relived that there was something on the market that could let me enjoy my bike into colder weather.
“You know Harley® makes a heated jacket liner, vest liner, and pant liner so you can be toasty all over.”
“Lori, I did not have a clue all of this was available.” I replied amazed.
“Harley-Davidson® reengineered the heating system in these heated items. It is called the Nanowire and a GHC High Density Heat system. It works like this. They take silvered fibers stitched into a fabric and waterproof sealed. They place this system in points throughout the jacket, vest, and pant liner. I gives you extensive and uniform heat coverage. All the connecting wires are stranded very fine and they are a small gauge. They route those through channels so the wires are less noticeable. This makes a lighter jacket. You don’t have to have as much amperage.
“I want to look at the whole outfit,” is exclaimed excitedly.
“I want to inform you about two more features. Harley-Davidson® offers a Dual 2 wiring system that lets you separately control the heat output for the gloves and jacket. You have to be using a Dual Temp Controller to take advantage of this feature. Like I said before, the plug and wire casing are designed to stay pliable in below-freezing temperatures – so the plug won’t scratch the tank.
“Thanks for the education.” I do want to try the heated gear.
“Great, I think you’ll love it we have the jacket liner, vest liner, pant liner, heated gloves, battery operated gloves, battery operated heated vest , battery pack, and all the switches, harness, thermostat, splitter, and more. We offer it here at Adventure Harley-Davidson or online at www.adventurehd.com.
“I purchased my heated gear outfit that very day. I hooked it up and took rides until the snow fell. I think heated gear was my best investment to grab more riding time out of each season.”
