I’m the first to admit that I absolutely do not look forward to attending baby showers, bridal showers or any sort of party that even remotely resembles those ideas. A lot of people think that an artificial flower arrangements is a very stupid idea. They do not see any value at all in silk flowers, arguing that half of the fun of flowers is that there are vibrant and alive. Although a real flower bouquet has a lot of drawbacks, such as wilting, requiring care, lasting only a short period of time, and eventually getting flower petals all over the floor, these people still think that all of the inconvenience is worth it, because they see no worth in artificial flowers. But in my opinion, this type of snobbery is silly. The point of flowers, after all, is to cheer you up. The only difference between real flowers in artificial flowers, as far as I am concerned, is that artificial flowers can do this for a whole lot longer.

Of course, artificial flowers do not look quite like real flowers, but they have gotten better and better. As far as I can tell, there are many people out there who can not tell the difference when you see it. They look at an artificial flower arrangements and be quite sure that it is the real deal. Until, that is, they look very closely at it and discover that the flowers are actually artificial flowers. Often, the only thing that tips people off to the fact that they are looking at artificial flowers, is the absence of the mess that characterizes a real bouquet. They will notice that there is no water in the face, or that there are no flower petals on the ground. If this is the biggest difference between real flowers and artificial flowers, I think that the choice is clear. After all, who needs all of that mess and bother, when it can be so easily avoided?

Nowadays, I will never send a real flower arrangement to someone when they seem to be feeling down. I almost always send artificial flowers instead. While real flowers will make them feel better for a little while and then dies slowly, making a mess all over the floor, artificial flowers will last forever. They will continue to provide joy and happiness, lighting up the room and increasing the cheer in good spirits of all who are inside of it. Although artificial flowers do not have the romantic qualities of real flowers, they do have one quality that really goes far to characterize true love: they last for ever and ever.

As a sometimes musician, I have a very strong belief about using instruments for decorative purposes: you should not. People who collect antique musical instruments really bother me, and sometimes they anger me outright. It seems to me that, whether or not it is an antique musical instrument, its purpose is to be played. I can understand decorating your walls with a few antique musical instruments that are in no shape to be played at all, but if they are playable, there is probably someone somewhere who would simply die to be able to make music on them.

Anyway, being antique is not what makes musical instruments beautiful I have a Martin guitar instrument that only dates from the 90s, and it is still one of the most lovely axes that I have ever seen or heard. I have heard antique musical instruments that are even nicer sounding than my Martin guitar instrument, but not many. In my opinion it is still one of the nicest guitars ever, even if it does not stand among the antique musical instruments. It has a beautiful rosewood top, inlaid with abalone shells and everything, and the sound is just unbelievable if you ask me. And that instrument is practically new.

The only reason I see for looking for antique musical instruments is if you are in for something very specific. For example, there are a lot of medieval instruments that are not used any more except by a few people who are big fans. Unless you look among a lot of antique musical instruments, there is no way that you will find one with the authentic old sound that some people hold so dear, and it is important to get the right sound when you play. But except for finding antique musical instruments that are not made any more, why would you not get one that is simply old, and so a little less expensive. It will be as nice to play, and probably will even look as nice, so what is the difference. No difference at all, that’s what.

Of course, I have seen antique musical instruments that are absolutely beautiful and one of a kind. Everyone goes crazy for something that is special and hand crafted. These kinds of antique musical instruments are a delight for anyone to behold. They would be even better to play. But that’s just my opinion.

Walking through our local antique store several years ago, I came upon the most exquisite antique Christmas decoration that I had ever seen. I frequent antique stores fairly often, usually just for browsing. Every once in a while something catches my eye that I absolutely must have. This antique Christmas decoration was one of those items. The cost for this antique Christmas decoration was only $20 and I scooped the tiny angel up and proudly took her home. After I cleaned her up somewhat, very delicately, it revealed a tiny angel sitting on top of a gold ornament with elegant filigree surrounding it. I assumed that there had once been a small bell inside of the ornament but that had long since been lost. After doing a bit of research, I discovered that she most likely dated back to the early 1900’s. I was enthralled. She was gently placed on top of our family Christmas tree when the time came.

Often times, treasures such as the antique Christmas decoration that I found can be found in antique stores or at auctions. I’ve even found some simple treasures at flea markets. You simply have to have patience and a keen eye for them. Of course, everyone sees something different in antiques. What I find to be breathtaking, someone else may find to be appalling. It is all in the eyes of the beholder. But, I knew that I had found something very special in my angel antique Christmas decoration. After doing more research, I found that it was valued at approximately $150. Not only had I been lucky enough to find such an antique Christmas decoration, but I had gotten a real bargain on it as well.

The reason that I am drawn to antique Christmas decorations is because of the elegance of the years gone by. More time and elegance was placed on holiday decor many years ago. People took the time to make decorations by hand and make each one differently. Today, decorations are produced in factories and many households across the world have the exact same decorations. Previous time periods didn’t have the luxury of factories. Everything was different and made with care. When things were made in that manner, the elegance was always obvious. It still is. With the antique Christmas decoration that I’d managed to find, you could tell that someone had put quite a bit of time and energy into making it. The etchings were perfect and the sense was that someone had put quite a bit of time into creating it. When finding such a treasured antique Christmas decoration, it is almost as if you are keeping that time period and that creator alive in a sense. The memories and the story of that antique Christmas decoration continue to live on when it is seen at the top of my family’s Christmas tree. Take some time to walk through an antique store. See if anything catches your attention. Perhaps you will be fortunate enough to find an antique Christmas decoration like I did. Or something even better.

Hey, before you slap that harsh political bumper sticker on your vehicle, you may want to be certain of what you’re doing it for. Are you aware of all that’s going on in politics these days? Do you keep up with your current events and watch the world news daily? One thing that I’ve noticed regarding the Bush presidency is how he’s constantly attacked. Now, I do realize that this is to be expected since he is the nation’s leader. The truth is there’s no way to have this position and not get dogged by certain individuals and groups. That’s just part of the package. Take our current president for example. One thing he’s not is articulate. He certainly has trouble forming his arguments verbally. This doesn’t make him a horrible leader. There are many factors to consider. So don’t peel that back off that anti bush sticker just yet. You may be tainting your car or SUV.

I live in Middle America. You see plenty of stickers on vehicles out here. Now I’m not talking about the anti bush sticker; I’m referring to “Support Our Troops” stickers. I like seeing this. Whether you agree with the war or not isn’t the issue. The fact is we have tons of Americans over there fighting for our country. They’re doing what al lot of folks over here would never have the guts to do. Therefore let’s offer them support in any way we can. It’s the right thing to do. You don’t have to have your PHD to see that there is a great deal of controversy surrounding politics. This all starts with opinions. We all have them and we all think we’re right. Some of us are out looking for an anti bush sticker to voice our position, and others are doing the opposite. One thing I can tell you is that you may want to think about your environment/community before pasting an anti bush sticker on your ride. Like I mentioned, around here that probably wouldn’t be the best idea. That is, unless you want to be ostracized and possibly worse.

If an anti bush sticker is what you’re searching for, you’ll have no trouble finding one online. You can take your pick from a whole slew of anti bush trinkets, stickers, apparel and more. However, I would keep in mind that Bush is our president, and though he may make a few mistakes; he is just human like the rest of us. How well would you do in the White House?
