What exercise is skipping (jump rope), what is it used for and what does it train?

Is skipping low intensity cardio, high intensity resistance (i doubt it’s that) and what limbs/muscles does it train to do what? (If you understand what i’m saying ha ha).

Skipping rope keeps you quick. It also helps with Cardio. And if you’ve seen Rocky, we all know that you have to punch between the jumps.
