Stair Stepper
stair stepper?
anyone have a stair stepper?? Do you like it? Do you use it? Do they work well…?? I don’t have room at my home for something like a treadmill, I have access to a gym at work, but with limited hours. I’d like to have something at home I can do.
The weather is not good here (tons of snow) so I can’t go walking, plus I have two kids to take care of..so if you have any other suggestions, please let me know.
I don’t have my own stair stepper but have used them in gyms. They do a good job of getting you decent workout, but like a treadmill they do some of the work for you so it’s not quite the same as walking or running actual stairs. One good thing about them is that they’re easier on the joints than running, although a treadmill absorbs some of the impact and is easier on your joints than running on the road.
What I do have is an elliptical machine, which I like a lot. Similar to a stair stepper but the motion is circular instead of just up and down. I think this puts a bit less strain on your thigh muscles, and it definitely took some getting used to the motion. Also, it has a footprint similar to a treadmill, so if space is an issue then the stair stepper may be the ticket since they have a fairly upright kind of a build and therefore have a smaller footprint.
