Training Weighted
For Batting training I swing a weighted bat and a very light bat should i do this on separate days or what?
I do this to increase strength with the weighted bat and speed with the light bat but i’m afraid i’ll lose any benefits from this training if i do them together or too close together because the heavy and light bat training works agaist each other because one deals with strength and the other the complete opposite in explosive speed. I hope you can understand what i mean and please help.
Weighted bats can do good as long as you make a normal, controlled swing. Too often people swing the heavy bat wildly and it does no good and can cause pulled rib muscles.
Target your work on your hands and wrists. Get a rubber ball about the size of a tennis ball. Squeeze that ball hundreds of times a day. Squeeze it with your finger tips against the heel of your hand. This is a quiet activity that you can do it during class.
Strengthening your hands and wrists will allow you to bring the bat through the strike zone faster. It is the speed of the bat that gives the ball distance when hit.
